As the Soo Greyhounds embark on the first road trip of the Ontario Hockey League regular season, the team will do so with some veterans returning to the lineup.

The Minnesota Wild announced on Thursday that defenceman Gustav Bouramman had been reassigned to the Greyhounds.

Prior to signing an entry-level contract with the Wild on Aug. 26, Bouramman had been offered a contract by Lulea of the Swedish league but the 19-year-old will play in the OHL this season.

Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis confirmed Thursday afternoon that Bouramman will return to the team in time for this weekends road trip that begins on Thursday night in Windsor.

Raftis also confirmed that Joseph Raaymakers (New York Rangers), Tim Gettinger (New York Rangers), Boris Katchouk (Tampa Bay) and Jack Kopacka (Anaheim) will also rejoin the team.

Raftis said Kopacka’s status for this weekend was up in the air due to an injury suffered during the Anaheim camp.

The Greyhounds remain without three players as Colton White and Blake Speers remain with the New Jersey Devils while Zach Senyshyn is still with the Boston Bruins.

Speers and White were scheduled to play in the Devils exhibition game on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The weekend road trip sees the Greyhounds in Windsor to face the Spitfires on Thursday before taking on the London Knights on Friday and wrapping up the trip in Sarnia on Sunday afternoon against the Sting.

NEWS AND NOTES

In other news around the league on Thursday, the Hamilton Bulldogs landed forward Will Bitten from the Flint Firebirds in a deal that involved three players and three picks.

Bitten declined to report to the Firebirds this season after the organizational issues in Flint last season. In exchange for Bitten and a 12th round pick in 2017, the Firebirds receive goaltender Connor Hicks, winger Fedor Gordeev and second round picks in 2019 (originally Owen Sound’s) and 2020 (originally Niagara’s).

Former Soo Greyhounds forward Keigan Goetz will spend his overage season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Halifax Mooseheads after clearing waivers in the OHL.

Goetz joined the Greyhounds midway through the 2013-14 season as a free agent and suited up in 111 games with the team before being dealt to the Barrie Colts midway through last season.

In 139 OHL games, Goetz scored 21 goals and 46 points.
