O'Rourke leads list of seven Greyhounds on Central Scouting list

NHL Central Scouting released its final rankings for the 2020 entry draft on Wednesday and seven members of the Soo Greyhounds found themselves ranked.

The highest Greyhound ranked was captain Ryan O’Rourke, who was ranked 27th among North American skaters.

“I hear a lot of scouts coming up to me and say he just doesn’t make a lot of mistakes,” Greyhounds coach John Dean said. “That’s the best way to describe Ryan. He’s consistent. He doesn’t make a lot of mistakes and a real underrated offensive player as well. He’s got a heavy shot. He worked our power play. He’s an interesting guy. He does everything really well.”

O’Rourke scored seven goals and 37 points in 54 games in his second season with the Greyhounds in 2019-20.

Among the other Greyhound players ranked was centre Jaromir Pytlik, who was ranked 46th after scoring 22 goals and 50 points in 56 games for the Greyhounds this season.

Tanner Dickinson was ranked 67th.

Dickinson joined the Greyhounds last summer as a free agent and impressed in his first major junior season.

Dickinson finished the season with nine goals and 40 points in 64 games and finished fifth in OHL rookie scoring.

Rory Kerins used a strong second season to be ranked 72nd.

Kerins finished second in team scoring with 59 points in 64 games. His 30 goals were tops on the team.

Robert Calisti was ranked 78th and finished the 2019-20 season with 18 goals and 50 points, good for 12th amongst OHL blueliners.

Tye Kartye was the other Greyhound skater ranked (192nd).

Kartye finished third in team scoring with 53 points in 64 games.

Goaltender Nick Malik, wo joined the team at the trade deadline, was ranked 10th among North American goaltenders.
