The COVID-19 pandemic has meant a red flag for racing locally.

In a press release issued on Friday, Kinross Speedpark announced hopes of returning to racing in August with four race shows planned.

It marked the second time in under a month that the track was forced to postpone the start of the season.

“To say it’s disappointing would be an understatement,” Kinross director of race day operations and public relations Gerry Liscumb Jr. said in a prepared statement. “While the latest delay further extends the absence of the roaring engines and cheering fans to the facility, our collective group of volunteers remains positive and committed to getting to the track at some point this summer and doing what we all love to do.”

The 2020 race schedule at Kinross is tentatively set to begin on Aug. 8.
