Lewis was suspended for failing a drug test in May.

The substance was methylhezaneamine, commonly found in supplements, is prohibited under the CHL’s anti-doping policy.

“Player Jamie Lewis and the North Bay Battalion hockey club were extremely cooperative throughout the process,” said CHL President David Branch in a release. “We are completely satisfied that the player used a supplement which he had purchased over the counter at a local retail outlet and had no knowledge that it contained a prohibited substance.”

Methylhezaneamine is on the World Anti-Doping Agencies Prohibited List, which is also recognized by the CHL. Methylhezaneamine is not found in any medications lisenced by Health Canada, but can be found in some supplements.
