NOSSA track and field continues (11 photos/updated)

The Northern Ontario Secondary School Association track and field meet is complete. After winning the long jump on Wednesday, Taylor Lamorie of St. Basil won the women’s 100 meter dash at the midget level thanks to a time of 13.44 seconds.

After winning the long jump on Wednesday, Taylor Lamorie of St. Basil won the women’s 100 meter dash at the midget level thanks to a time of 13.44 seconds. Marymount Academy’s Allison Byrnes finished second with a time of 13.75 seconds.

Also at the midget level, Kelsey Tanner of Superior Heights won the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.99 seconds. Tanner also won the 300 meter hurdles event with a time of 50.68 seconds. Tanner was also a part of the Superior Heights 4x100 meter relay team that won the midget run on Thursday. Also on that team were Taylor Nadeau. Ella Peterson and Blair Headrick.

Kara Neveau of St. Mary’s College, who finished second in the women’s 1500 meter run on Wednesday, took top spot in the midget 3000 meter run on Thursday.

In the junior women’s 200 meter dash, Korah’s Cameron Mihell finished first with a time of 27.60 seconds. Mihell also won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.21 seconds.

Kiara Hamilton of Superior Heights won the junior women’s high jump with a record jump of 1.54 meters. Teammate Rebekah Trudel finished second with a jump of 1.46 meters.

Sarah Hammond of St. Basil, who had a big day on Wednesday, won the senior women’s 100 meter dash with a time of 12.89 seconds.

Superior Heights runner Lydia Heimonen won the senior women’s 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.13.

In the senior women’s 4x100 relay, the St. Basil team of Taylor Bellini, Alicia Mlynarczyk, Mercedes Ryan and Sarah Hammond won the event with a time of 51.58 seconds.

Emily Good of Central Algoma Secondary School won the senior women’s discus throw with a throw of 31.37 meters, winning the event by nearly four meters over Shelby Martin of St. Joseph’s-Scollard Hall of North Bay (27.77 meters).

In men’s action, Kristian Shuttleworth of Superior Heights won a pair of events at the midget level. Shuttleworth won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.13 seconds. He also won the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.99. Shuttleworth also won the triple jump with a distance of 11.84 meters.

The men’s 3000 meter run was won by Nick Keenan of Superior Heights with a time of 10:15.31. He won the event by nearly 13 seconds.

Zach Senecal of St. Mary’s College won a pair of events at the junior level. Senecal won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.49 seconds. He also won the 200 meter dash thanks to a time of 24.28 seconds.

After winning the junior men’s 100 meter hurdles on Wednesday, Max Fisher of Superior Heights won the 300 meter hurdles on Thursday. Fisher took top spot with a run of 42.64 seconds.

Superior Heights won the junior men’s 4x100 relay. The team of Michael Wilson, Max Fisher, Gavyn McCabe and Maverick Hill posted a time of 46.73 seconds. McCabe would also win the Javelin throw with a distance of 46.39 meters.

In what was one of the best finishes of the two-day event, St. Basil’s Chris Kramer won the senior men’s 100 meter dash with a time of 11.20 seconds, beating Korah’s Andrew Jones who finished with a time of 11.21 seconds. Kramer also won the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.69 seconds.

The Superior Heights team, consisting of Jeff Auger, Michael Bogensberger, Brett Lewis, Mark McLean won the senior men’s 4x100 relay with a time of 44.92 seconds

Jacob Cruise of Superior Heights won a pair of events. With a distance of 5.99 meters, Cruise won the senior men’s long jump while also winning the triple jump with a distance of 12.79 meters.

Fisher, McLean and teammates Quinten Grimm and Cater Lobert helped Superior Heights win the senior men’s 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:32.08.
