NOSSA spots determined at city track meet

The city high school track and field meet is in the books for another year

Sault Ste. Marie’s top high school track and field athletes were determined on Wednesday.

The city’s annual track meet, held at Jo Forman Track, determined the local representatives for next week’s Northern Ontario Secondary School Associations (NOSSA) meet in Sudbury.

Korah’s Hanna Jodoin set a new city record in the senior girls triple jump with a mark of 11.32 metres.

Jodoin was also part of the Korah team that took top spot in the girls 4x400 relay with teammates Jadyn Zeppa, Gracie Sloss, and Olivia Simard.

With a time of 14:38.89, Jodoin also took top spot in the senior girls 3000 metre run while also winning the 800-metre run.

In the junior girls shot put, Brayden Corbett Lewis set a new city mark with a distance of 11.36 metres.

It was also a big day for Korah’s Andrew Budau, who took top spot in the 800 metre, and 1,500 metre and 2,000 metre open steeplechase.

Budau was also a member of Korah’s 4x400 open relay, who took top spot by nine seconds in the event. Also on the team are Nik Gervasi, Caleb Wood, and Connor Tait.

Olivia Orazietti of St. Mary’s won a pair of senior girls events, taking top spot in the 100m and 200m dash while Korah’s Taylor Elliott took top spot in both the shot put and discus.

The NOSSA meet in Sudbury is set for Wednesday and Thursday next week.
