Cory Sewell triggered two goals as the Soo North Stars opened the Steel City International Hockey Tournament with a 4-1 AAA midget division win over the Colorado Arapahoe Ice Warriors. The game was played as part of the tournament's opening day on Thursday. Sewell also added an assist, while Michael Sharp and David Turco rounded out the North Star scoring in support of goalie Michael Maulucci.

Next action for the North Stars is Friday morning at 10:15 against Wisconsin. The North Stars then have two games on Saturday, at 8:30 a.m. against Capitol City and then at 8:30 p.m. against Shattuck St. Mary's. All North Star games are at John Rhodes Community Centre.
