The locals took a pair of games from the visiting New Liskeard Cubs on the weekend, posting 5-3 and 5-0 wins. The best-of-five semi-final series resumes this Saturday in New Liskeard with the North Stars ahead 2-0. Earlier, the North Stars began the playoffs with a 3-0 quarterfinal sweep of the Kapuskasing Flyers.

Saturday, five different players scored for the Soo in the 5-3 win -- Michael D'Agostini, Kyle Rodgers, Adam Combs, Andrew Harrison and Cory Sewell. Sunday, Michael Maulucci posted the shutout and his fifth straight win of the playoffs. Harrison with a pair, Sewell, Michael Sharp and David Turco rounded out the Soo scoring. Sewell had helpers in each game for a two-goal, two-assist weekend.
