The best-of-five Great North Midget Hockey League championship series is tied at one game apiece and the Soo North Stars have taken away the home-ice advantage.

The North Stars earned a split in Sudbury against the Lockerby Nickel Capitals on the weekend, winning 3-2 on Sunday after dropping a 5-4 overtime loss on Saturday.

Games three and four are here this weekend, Saturday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens and Sunday at 2 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.

The North Stars evened the series last Sunday with the 3-2 triumph on goals by Nick Tombari, Michael D'Agostini and Cory Sewell and a pair of assists from Tyler Lannigan.

Four players scored once apiece for the North Stars in the 5-4 OT loss on Saturday -- David Turco, Adam Combs, Kyle Rodgers and Jeff Elliott. Turco also added two assists for the Soo, as did Adam Kauppi.

The loss was the first of the playoffs for the North Stars, now 7-1, after opening with six straight wins.
