NORTH STARS SWEEP KAP

The Soo North Stars have taken a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five Great North Midget Hockey League playoff series with the Kapuskasing Flyers. A 7-3 win on Sunday gave the North Stars a home sweep to begin the series.

The Soo North Stars have taken a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five Great North Midget Hockey League playoff series with the Kapuskasing Flyers. A 7-3 win on Sunday gave the North Stars a home sweep to begin the series. Adam Kauppi had a two-goal game for the North Stars on Sunday, with singles potted by Dustin Curts, Michael D'Agostini, Nick Tombari, Shawn Bull and Chris Towell. Michael Maulucci posted the win in goal. Saturday, David Turco scored at 3:58 of overtime to give the North Stars a frantic 4-3 win. Turco's OT winner was his second power play goal of the game. He also assisted on one North Star goal. Andrew Harrison and Cory Sewell also scored for the Soo and Adam Combs had a pair of assists in support of goalie Maulucci's goaltending.
