After playing to 17 wins and two overtime losses worth a point each, the North Stars completed a four-game road trip on Sunday with a 5-4 loss to the New Liskeard Cubs.

The loss followed a convincing 6-1 win over the Kirkland Lake Legion 87's on Saturday.

In Sunday's loss, Adam Kauppi and Michael D'Agostini led the North Stars with a goal and an assist each. Matt D'Agostini and Lucas Goodall added a goal each.

On Saturday, Matt D'Agostini scored twice, Tyler Thompson and Kauppi recorded a goal and an assist each while Paul Dupont and Zac Torquato scored a goal each. Ben Davey added three assists.

The North Stars continue to maintain a strangle hold on first place in the GNML with a 17-1-0-2 record for 36 points, 10 points ahead of second place Kirkland Lake.

Michael D'Agostini leads the team in scoring with 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points, good for third spot in the league scoring race. Michael Maulucci remains the league's top goaltender with a 1.84 goals against average through 13 games.

The North Stars return home this weekend for a pair of games against Kirkland Lake at the John Rhodes Community Centre. Game times are 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
