NORTH STARS RATTLE COBRAS

The Soo North Stars swept a pair of weekend games from the Valley East Cobras to remain in second place in the Great North Midget Hockey League. Sunday at John Rhodes Community Centre, eight players had a goal apiece in an 8-0 blanking of the Cobras.

The Soo North Stars swept a pair of weekend games from the Valley East Cobras to remain in second place in the Great North Midget Hockey League. Sunday at John Rhodes Community Centre, eight players had a goal apiece in an 8-0 blanking of the Cobras. Adam Combs, David Turco, Michael D'Agostini, Chris Towell, Nick Tombari, Dustin Curts, Andrew Harrison and Cory Sewell scored for the Soo in support of the shutout netminding of Michael Maulucci, who posted his league-best sixth whitewash of the season. Combs also had a pair of assists to lead the North Stars. Saturday, five different players scored a goal apiece as the North Stars bested Valley East 5-1. Turco, Adam Kauppi, Tyler Lannigan, Michael Sharp and Kyle Rodgers scored for the North Stars. Turco and Kauppi also added assists for two-point games. Maulucci lost his shutout bid with five seconds remaining in the game.
