The North Stars remain unbeaten in the Great North Midget League after defeating the Capitals 3-1 in Sudbury on Wednesday night.

The win extends the North Stars record to 11-0-0-1 for 23 points and sole possession of first place in the GNML.

Both teams had trouble generating offense during the first two periods as Sudbury went to the dressing room for the second intermission with a 1-0 lead on a second period goal despite being outshot by the Soo.

The North Stars then exploded with three goals in the third period to claim the victory.

Adam Kauppi, Matt Caria and Jake McClelland each scored a goal for the North Stars. Michael Sharp, Paul Dupont and Michael D'Agostini added two assists each.

Michael Maulucci stopped 18 of 19 shot in net for the North Stars while the Soo peppered the Sudbury goal with 42 shots.

The North Stars will hit the road again this weekend with games in Kapuskasing against the Flyers on Saturday and Sunday.

The team doesn't return home until November 4 when they play host to the North Bay Trappers at 7 p.m. at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
