Trailing 2-1 after one period of play, the North Stars scored three second period goals and four more in the third to claim an 8-3 victory over the Legion 87's in Great North Midget League play at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The victory follows a North Stars 4-1 win on Saturday night.

On Sunday, Michael Sharp led the North Stars offensive assault with three goals while Michael D'Agostini added a goal and four assists.

Zac Torquato tallied a goal and three assists while Matt Caria and Tyler Gendron scored a goal and recorded an assist each. Matt D'Agostini scored the other North Stars goal.

After Michael Maulucci recorded the win on Saturday, Travis O'Brien made the start in net for the Soo on Sunday and picked up the victory.

The win improves the North Stars record to 19-1-0-2 for 40 points and a comfortable 13 point lead over Timmins on top of the GNML standings.

Michael D'Agostini climbed to second in the league scoring race with 14 goals and 31 assists for 45 points, five behind Kirkland Lake's Gary Welch. Torquato and Caria are tied for fifth with 13 goals and 21 assists each for 34 points.

Maulucci dropped his league leading goals against average to 1.78.

The North Stars return to action on Tuesday night as they host the Sudbury Lockerby Nickel Capitals, who sit at 11-8-0-1 and in fifth place, at the Rhodes beginning at 7 p.m.
