This weekend, Algoma University and the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club co-hosted the 2020 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Nordic Ski Championships at Hiawatha Highlands.

Eleven Nordic ski teams from across the province participated, including the Carleton Ravens, Guelph Gryphons, Lakehead Thunderwolves, Laurentian Voyageurs, McMaster Marauders, Nipissing Lakers, Ottawa Gee-Gees, Queen’s Gaels, Toronto Varsity Blues, Waterloo Warriors, and the Algoma Thunderbirds.

“Algoma University is very pleased to have such an amazing group of athletes visit our community,” shared Athletics Operations Coordinator Rachel Johnson. “The execution and organization from the Soo Finnish Ski Club made this event exceptional. “I'd like to thank Hiawatha and the Soo Finnish Ski Club for being fantastic hosts for the OUA Nordic Skiing Championships,” shared Director of Student Experience, Dave Trudelle. “All of the volunteers, sponsors, and staff put on a great Championship that I know the athletes enjoyed.  It was great to see the athletes come from all over and have a successful weekend.”
