NO SHELTER FOR THE STORM

The Sault Storm got down to business Friday in what normally is a day off.

The Sault Storm got down to business Friday in what normally is a day off. Storm head coach Barry Rushon put his charges through a brisk one-hour workout last evening in preparation for tonight's Northern Football Conference encounter with the Mega City Mad Dogs. Friday is traditionally a day off for the Storm but in light of the team's 0-3 record to start the season, Rushon figured a practice session was in order. "There were some things I felt we needed to work on," said Rushon, who twice since 1996 has been named NFC coach-of-the-year. The Storm is coming off a messy 7-6 home-field loss to the Belleville Panthers a week ago in which it lost on a late score by the visitors. Tonight's matchup against Mega City figures to be a tough one for the Storm. Mega City takes a 2-1 record into the game, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field. Tim Higgins gets the start at quarterback for the Sault. The rookie from Boise, Idaho has been an offensive bright spot for the locals to date. We're up first! Check SooToday.com Sunday morning at 7 a.m. for Sault Ste. Marie's first coverage of Saturday's NFC game between the Storm and the Mega City Mad Dogs.
