When the National Hockey League holds its annual scouting combine beginning on May 26, there will be plenty of Sault Ste. Marie ties.

Sault Ste. Marie native, and North Bay Battalion forward, Michael Amadio will be among the 119 players invited to the combine in Toronto.

Also invited to participate in the event were a pair of other players with Sault ties along with three members of the Soo Greyhounds.

Forward Brendan Perlini of the Niagara IceDogs and Guelph Storm forward Robby Fabbri are also among those invited.

Perlini’s father Fred is a Sualt native while Fabbri’s parents are both Sault natives.

The Greyhounds will be represented by three players at the six-day event. Jared McCann, who could find himself as a first-round pick in June will be there, as will a pair of Greyhound rookies. Goaltender Brandon Halverson and forward Michael Bunting have also been invited.

The jump for Bunting is a big step after he was drafted just a year ago by the Greyhounds in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. Bunting suited up in 48 games for the Greyhounds, scoring 15 goals and 42 points in the regular season. He added five goals in nine playoff games.
