Team Jacobs has a new coach going forward.
After a Grand Slam of Curling tournament win at the Tour Challenge with Adam Kingsbury as coach, the Jacobs rink, which includes skip Brad Jacobs, third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden, will move forward with Kingsbury as their coach.
Following the Tour Challenge win, Jacobs told TheGrandSlamOfCurling.com’s Jonathan Brazeau about Kingsbury’s ability to help with the mental side of the game.
“I think I speak for all four of us when I say that he was amazing this week,” Jacobs said. “He really helped us out in a lot of ways, especially with patience, our thinking, our overall mindset, our mental toughness. He’s got a lot of experience in the field of psychology and that’s really where we need the most help. It’s not physically, it’s not how we throw the rock, it’s all mindset. He was awesome this week and we can really attribute this victory here a lot to Adam.”
Kingsbury, who has previously coached Rachel Homan’s team, is a Ph.D candidate in clinical psychology.
Arthur Perlini, who has worked with the Jacobs rink regularly on the mental aspect of the sport as well, will remain a part of the team as well in the same role.
