EEC Midget 'AA' Wildcats Eliminated in Ottawa Quarter-Finals

The Sault's Earth Energy Concepts Wildcats reeled off four consecutive round-robin victories but were eliminated from this weekend's Ottawa Showcase tournament following a 2-0 quarter-final loss to the North Bay Ice Boltz.

Lydia Murray fired two goals while Darcee McCaig and Jessica Orazetti added single markers in an opening 4-0 win over the Clarington Flames. Aleisha Labbe had the shutout while Lauren Rimmer, Jenna Mitchell, Miriam Lavey and Murray added assists. The Wildcats closed Friday's action with a 5-3 win over the Vaughan Flames. Mikayla Ferlaino and Murray each scored twice while McCaig added the insurance marker. Mitchell (2), Rimmer and Victoria Seabrook had assists.

In Saturday's action Jana Longo, Chelsea Gaudette, and Lavey scored to lead the Sault to a 3-1 win over the Guelph Thunder. Ferlaino (2), Murray, Rimmer, Vanessa Rota and Brooke Smith had the assists. Mitchell fired a pair of goals and Taylor Smith had the shutout as the Wildcats beat West Northumberland 3-0 to close out round-robin action. Longo notched the other goal while Sarah Bibeau, Murray, Rimmer, Ferlaino, Smith and Seabrook recorded assists. Other key members of the Wildcat squad include defenseman Casie King and Jamie Lynn Anich.
