McDonald leads Thunderbirds on road

A four-point performance from Kaidan McDonald paced the Soo Thunderbirds to a divisional win on Thursday night

Thursday was a big night for Soo Thunderbirds forward Kaidan McDonald.

The veteran had four points as the Thunderbirds picked up a 4-2 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win over the Elliot Lake Wildcats in Elliot Lake on Thursday.

McDonald scored three times for the Thunderbirds, including a pair of goals in the third period, giving him 18 goals on the season.

Lucas Theriault added a goal and an assist for the Thunderbirds while Brendan Miller assisted on three goals.

Spencer Van Tiem added a pair of assists for the Thunderbirds.

Goaltender William Anderson stopped 31 shots.

Eric Conley scored both goals for the Wildcats.

Noah Minns assisted on both Elliot Lake goals.

Wildcats goaltender Zion Miceli stopped 37 shots.

Winners of five straight games, the Thunderbirds improve to 39-10-0-1.

Elliot Lake falls to 20-30-1-2 with the loss.

The Thunderbirds return to action on Friday night at home against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners. Puck drop at the John Rhodes Community Centre is set for 7 p.m.
