Mayor's Cup finals set for Saturday

After nearly two weeks of play, the Mayor's Cup championship has come down to a single game. Championship game match-ups have been determined after the second set of semi-final games were completed at the Soo Pee Wee Arena on Friday night.

After nearly two weeks of play, the Mayor's Cup championship has come down to a single game.

Championship game match-ups have been determined after the second set of semi-final games were completed at the Soo Pee Wee Arena on Friday night.

McDougall Fuels advanced after an exciting 5-4 win over the Soo Kings in the Open Division while Stitch King/Weedman cruised to a 4-1 victory over Mr. Transmission in the Over-33 division.

Stitch King/Weedman will now face Tulloch Engineering for the championship on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the Pee Wee Arena.

In the Open Division, McDougall Fuels will meet the Blueliners Bulls for local men's league supremacy at 8:30 p.m.

On Friday, Chris Huckson was the hero for McDougall Fuels by scoring the tying and winning goals in the third period. The goals added to his two assists earlier in the game.

Darcy Seaton also had an outstanding game for McDougall with two goals and two assists. Jody Wilson scored once while Randy Barry recorded a pair of assists.

Darren Sagle, Trevor Robidoux, Gary Armstrong and Nick Chanas replied with goals for the Kings. Marc Disano added a pair of assists.

In the Over-33 semi, Lou Melchiore, Bill Carriere, Randy Latvinen and Mike Johnson scored for Stitch King/Weedman. Jim Dellacostanza added two assists.

Mark Patallia replied with the lone goal for Mr. Transmission.
