Mayor's Cup concludes day four

Action in the Mayor's Cup hockey tournament continued on Friday night with three games on the slate at the Soo Pee Wee Arena. In the Over-33 division, Stitch King/Weedman beat the Blueliners Blues by a 7-2 score.

Action in the Mayor's Cup hockey tournament continued on Friday night with three games on the slate at the Soo Pee Wee Arena.

In the Over-33 division, Stitch King/Weedman beat the Blueliners Blues by a 7-2 score. In the Open Division, the early game saw the Soo Kings edge Soo Sports Excellence 6-5 while the late game saw Blueliners knock off McDougall Fuels 8-2.

In the opening game of the night, Stitch King received two goal performances from Jody Wilson and Jim Dellacostanza as they beat Blueliners 7-2. Stitch King scored two late third period goals to seal the win.

Albert Marelli, Bill Carriere, and Ken Dickenson also scored in the win for Stitch King. Chuck Metivier and Dave Eddy replied in the setback for Blueliners.

In game two, which featured the Soo Kings and Soo Sports Excellence, the Kings scored two late power play goals to come from behind and knock off Soo Sports 6-5.

The Kings received goals from Kevin MacKay, Trevor Robidoux, Brad Baber, Ken Belanger, Nick Chanas, and Paul Godfrey. Chanas' and Godfrey's goals came on both ends of a 5-on-3 power play the Kings enjoyed late in the game.

The Chanas goal came with 1:18 left in the game and Godfrey scored the game winner with just 19 second left on the clock.

Jeff Greco picked up three goals and Anthony Mannarino scored twice in the loss while Lane Bertin picked up two assists. Mannarino's second goal came during a major penalty handed out to the Kings' Brad Baber for a head check late in the second period.

The final game of the night saw the Blueliners Bulls breeze to an 8-2 route of McDougall Fuels.

Ryan Leonard led the way offensively for the Bulls with four goals along with an assist. Mark Losa scored twice and added two assists while Gary Roach and Al Dipasqua also scored in the win. Mike Flammia chipped in with four helpers while Richard Bishop added two assists.

Mike Killoren and Greg McLean scored for McDougall Fuels in the loss.

Action in the Mayor's Cup tournament continues on Saturday at the Pee Wee Arena as Mr. Transmission and Tulloch Engineering face off in the Over-33 Division at 7 p.m. The 8:30 p.m. game sees Electronic Universe and the Blueliners Bulls battle in another Over-33 Division game.

The final game of the night at 10 p.m. will see A.J. Bus Lines and Soo Sport Excellence play in the lone Open Division game of the night.
