There really is no place like home as the Soo North Stars proved once again on the weekend. It was a sweep for the locals as they improved their Great North Midget Hockey League home record to 10-0-2 with a pair of victories over the Timmins Majors.

It was a sweep for the locals as they improved their Great North Midget Hockey League home record to 10-0-2 with a pair of victories over the Timmins Majors. Overall, the North Stars are now 14-6-4. Saturday at the John Rhodes Community Centre, the Stars edged Timmins 4-3. Kyle Rodgers sniped the winner in the third period, while Michael D'Agostini, Tyler Lannigan and Adam Kauppi also scored for the Soo and David Turco had a pair of assists. Home was also the place to be for the North Stars on Sunday in a 9-2 crushing of the visitors. Turco and Cory Sewell both had two-goal games to spark the North Stars. Rodgers, D'Agostini, Chris Towell, Adam Combs and Jeff Elliot all scored single goals for the Soo, with Michael Sharp contributing two assists. CUP TICKETS: Tickets for April's Air Canada Cup, of which the North Stars are the host team, are on sale. There's a Christmas stocking stuffer special of $30, which is good for all games in the Air Canada Cup national AAA midget championships. After Dec. 25, tournament passes will cost $40.
