Four local golfers battled another day of miserable weather and failed to make the cut on Friday at the Northern Ontario Open.

The $175,000 Canadian Tour tournament is being hosted at the Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club.

After Friday's second round, 62 of 156 players that started the tournament will play in today's third round after making the cut of a 5-over 145. Strong winds and rain have kept scores low at the par 70, 6767-yard course.

Mario Tiziani and David McKenzie, who was a co-leader after Thursday's first round, share the lead at 4-under par. Darren Griff, Steve Marino, Rob Oppenheim and Chris Wisler are tied for third at -1.

Evoy had the best round locally with a 6-over 76 for a two-day final score of +14 to finish in a tie for 134 spot. Evoy carded a birdie and seven bogeys. Kucher, who finished in a tie for 149th, shot 11-over for a total of +19 with seven bogeys and two double bogeys.

Round three will be played today with tee offs beginning at 10 a.m. from the first tee with the final group slated to tee off at 1:20 p.m.

The Golf Channel, local cable 54, will broadcast live action from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
