Locals continue to contribute in OUA football

As the OUA football season winds down, a number of local players continue to see regular action

It was another busy weekend for local players as the Ontario University Athletics football action as the regular season winds down.

With one week left in the regular season, the University of Western Ontario Mustangs won a matchup of 5-1 teams in convincing fashion on the weekend.  

Mitchell Stadnyk had 3.5 tackles for Western in a 68-17 win over Ottawa at Ottawa on Saturday.

Western will host McMaster on Oct. 22 in next action for both schools. The two teams sit tied with Laurier atop the OUA football standings with 6-1 records. Western split the opening two games of the season before reeling off five consecutive victories.

Jordan Hoover caught a pair of passes for 108 yards in Waterloo’s 38-7 loss to the University of Toronto. Hoover also had four tackles in the game.

Cody Wheten had 4.5 tackles while Michael Reid and Brandon Corelli had three tackles each for Waterloo.

Waterloo returns to action on Saturday at home against Carleton.

Former Sir James Dunn Eagle Casey Wright went 5-for-18 for 52 yards and ran for 15 yards on three carries for the University of Windsor on Saturday. The Lancers dropped a 55-5 decision at Queens.

Windsor hosts Laurier next Saturday.
