It’s been a banner year for Olivia Starzomski, a Sault Ste. Marie swimmer who has been training full time in Toronto since February.

Maintaining her Provincial Champion title in 200 breast across short- and long-course seasons, attending World Trials in Toronto in April, and now training for Canadian Swimming Championships in August have been the main events of her swimming career this season.

To add to her long list of accomplishments, Starzomski has now verbally committed to Michigan State University for the 2020-2021 season.

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to Michigan State University! I would like to thank coaches Matt [Gianodis] and Kathleen [Milloy] for this great opportunity! Without the support of my coaches and family, this opportunity would not have been possible. I’m looking forward to being a Spartan and enjoying everything that Michigan State Swimming and Diving has to offer me,” said Starzomski.

Starzomski made the move to Toronto in February to attend the Ontario Swimming Academy full-time with coach Don Burton. The move shows the young swimmer’s dedication to her sport, a dedication that will carry her through her years in the NCAA at MSU.
