LOCAL KIDS AT HOUNDS' CAMP

A definite local touch will be evident when the Soo Greyhounds open their 2002 Ontario Hockey League training camp on Aug. 26. A number of local products will be among the 36 players who'll be a part of the Hound camp.

A definite local touch will be evident when the Soo Greyhounds open their 2002 Ontario Hockey League training camp on Aug. 26. A number of local products will be among the 36 players who'll be a part of the Hound camp. The local veterans include 19-year old defencemen Jordan Kennedy and Niko Tuomi and 17-year old blueliner Jordan Smith as well as 18-year old goalie Joey Biasucci. Kennedy, Tuomi and Smith all played with the Hounds last season, while Biasucci came over in a summer trade with the Brampton Battalion. A couple of other local defencemen will be in camp in 17-year olds Dustin Curts and Joey Bruno. Both played with the AAA midget Soo North Stars last season. Curts was taken by the Greyhounds in the 14th round of the 2001 OHL draft while Bruno will be at camp as a free agent. CAMP SKED: Monday the 26th is set aside for the Hounds' golf tournament at Crimson Ridge. Tuesday the 27th is registration day with the players hitting the ice on Wednesday the 28th. RED-WHITE: The annual Red-White intra-squad game will be played on Friday Aug. 30, 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens. CATCH THE SPIRIT: The Hounds will be play the Saginaw Spirit in exhibition games in Gaylord, Mich. on Sat. Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. and at home on Sun. Sept. 1 at 1:30 p.m.
