Local entry set for U18 provincial curling tournament

The top two teams will move on to a national competition in Sudbury in April

The Northern Ontario Curling Association U18 provincial tournament begins today at the Community First Curling Centre locally.

The field will include a local entry that features skip Kevin Macmichael, vice Logan Sylvestre, second Justin MacKay, and lead Thomas Macmichael.

After finishing in fifth at the event last winter, the Macmichael rink advanced to the tournament thanks to a 3-0 record at the region four qualifier in Thessalon.

The Macmichael rink begins round robin play tonight at 7:30 p.m.

The top four teams in the round robin will move on to the page playoff on Saturday with the tournament final set for Sunday.

The top two teams at the U18 event will advance to the national competition in Sudbury in April.
