The Soo Greyhounds have inked a second member of the 2018 draft class.

The team announced on Wednesday the signing of centre Rory Kerins, the Greyhounds second pick in the 2018 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

After the draft, Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis said Kerins “is highly-skilled and is someone who is very creative with the puck.”

In a prepared statement on Wednesday, Raftis said “what sets him apart is his ability to be creative with the puck.”

“This skill set coupled with his highly competitive nature gives him an edge and creates opportunities for the players around him,” Raftis added.

Kerins was selected in the fourth round of the draft after spending the 2017-18 season with the Mississauga Rebels minor midget team.

He had 31 goals and 73 points in 42 games with the Rebels.

“I believe I’m a two-way, playmaking forward who does his job in all three zones,” Kerins said in a release. “I love to make nice plays.”

“I’m excited to be a Soo Greyhound because I feel like I fit very well with the style of the game they play,” Kerins also said.
