It turns out the hockey season isn’t quite over for Soo Greyhounds rookie forward Boris Katchouk.

The 17-year-old made his way to Grand Forks, North Dakota on Sunday where he will join Team Canada and play in the Under-18 World Championship, which is currently underway.

Katchouk was added to the Canadian team following the Greyhounds elimination from the Ontario Hockey League playoffs by the Erie Otters on Friday night in Erie.

The Canadian team is currently 2-0 at the event after wins over Denmark (10-2) and the Czech Republic (3-1).

Canada is in action on Monday night against Slovakia. Whether Katchouk will be in the lineup for the game wasn’t known.

Katchouk finished the regular season with 24 goals and 51 points in 63 games before adding six goals and 10 points in 12 playoff games.

Katchouk was ranked 25th amongst North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s final draft rankings, released earlier this month.
