The Knights of Columbus Novice Major hockey team from the Soo Pee Wee Hockey League emerged victorious in tournament action on the weekend in London.

The locals survived a taste of dynamite as the Knights of Columbus defeated the Meadowvale Dynamite 2-1 in the final to capture Novice Red Division Championship at the London Minor Hockey Association Annual Thunder Hockey Tournament.

With Meadowvale taking a 1-0 lead in the first period, the locals were forced to rally with a goal in the second period and the game winner in the third, as a shot from the side of the net deflected of a Dynamite player’s stick and into the net.

The win was a mark of revenge for the locals who took an earlier blast of Dynamite with a 5-1 loss to Meadowvale.

In other tournament games, the Knight’s of Columbus blanked the Oakville Wings 5-0 and the Mt. Clemens Sabrecats 6-0 before shutting out the Applewood Icebreakers 3-0 in the playoff semi-final.
