With the Ontario Football Conference season complete and the high school season under a month away, the Sault Sabercats varsity team honoured members of the 2019 team on Tuesday.

A standout on defence, Jacob Jurich earned the top award in being named the Sabercats most valuable player.

In addition to being a key piece of the Sabercats defensively, Jurich also saw some time at running back and had an impact there as well.

Quarterback Jordan Robinson-Wright earned the offensive player of the year award while Julian Gioia was named the defensive player of the year.

Hunter Mousseau was named the lineman of the year while the rookie of the year award was shared by Tyler Brechin and Nick Pagnotta.

Nick Fowler earned the Coaches Award while Rob Wright was named the recipient of the Sabercat Award.

The Sabercats finished the season with a 6-1-1 record before losing in double overtime to the Brantford Bisons, the eventual OFC champs at home in the West Division semifinal.
