JULIA COLIZZA SIGNS WITH MERCYHURST

Sault Ste. Marie native Julia Colizza has signed a letter-of-intent to play Division 1 U.S.A. women's hockey at Mercyhurst College next fall, SooToday.com has learned. The 17-year old Colizza will attend Mercyhurst on a full-ride hockey scholarship.

Sault Ste. Marie native Julia Colizza has signed a letter-of-intent to play Division 1 U.S.A. women's hockey at Mercyhurst College next fall, SooToday.com has learned.

The 17-year old Colizza will attend Mercyhurst on a full-ride hockey scholarship. The 5-foot-5 forward is currently the team captain for the Sault Wildcats AA midget hockey club.

An all-around athlete, Colizza last week won the Referees Trophy as the senior girls high school basketball player best combining sportsmanship and ability.

She played four years of high school basketball at Mount St. Joseph, the last three at the senior level.
