Just one night after beating the Sudbury Northern Wolves 5-1 in the Nickel City, the Soo Jr. Greyhounds had to work a little overtime to get the job done this time around with a 5-4 overtime win Thursday night at Memorial Gardens.

The Jr. Hounds opened the scoring just under five minutes into the game on a goal by winger Adam Campbell. The Northern Wolves didn't waste any time getting the equalizer as Brendon Foreshew tied the game 38 seconds after the Jr. Hounds had taken the lead. Joey Coccimiglio gave the Jr. Hounds a 2-1 lead later in the period scoring after cutting into centre and beating Northern Wolves' goaltender Danny Battochio.

In the second period the Jr. Hounds increased their lead as Kelly Thomson scored on the power play midway through the period to give the locals a two-goal lead.

In the third period things got interesting. Campbell scored his second goal of the night to increase the Jr. Hounds lead to 4-1. That's when Sudbury reeled off three goals in just over three minutes to tie the game. Brian McGarry got the Northern Wolves to within two at 2:24, then defenceman Darren Michelutti scored at 4:41 to cut the lead to one. Scott Restoule completed the scoring surge at 5:38.

In the extra frame the Jr. Hounds wasted no time putting the Northern Wolves away as Coccimiglio scored his second goal of the night 53 seconds into OT.

Shane Bellini stopped 24 shots for the Jr. Hounds in the win, while Battochio turned aside 37 shots in the loss.

Next home action for the Jr. Hounds will be Feb. 9 when the Abitibi Eskimos pay a visit to Memorial Gardens.

BYE, BYE: In other Jr. Greyhound news, volunteer scout Charly Murray is no longer with the organization. He has resigned, citing philosophical differences with the coaching staff.
