JR. HOUNDS LOSE AGAIN

On the heels of a 14-game winning streak the Soo Jr. Greyhounds have fallen on hard times of late as they have lost three straight games.

The latest setback was a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the second place North Bay Skyhawks on Friday night at Memorial Gardens.

It seems to be that the Jr. Hounds have run into a number of hot goaltenders of late. On Wednesday night, Sudbury Northern Wolves goaltender Danny Battochio stopped 55 shots as the Northern Wolves beat the Jr. Hounds 7-5 in Sudbury.

Last night North Bay's Martin Perreault stopped 39 shots in the North Bay win. In an uneventful first period the Jr. Hounds peppered Perreault with 19 shots but couldn't take the lead as the teams remained scoreless after one period.

The Skyhawks opened the scoring in the second period as Ryan McKee scored at the seven-minute mark to give North Bay the lead.

In the third period McKee gave the Skyhawks a two-goal lead with his second of the night at 4:34, a goal that proved in the end to be the game winner. Joey Coccimiglio broke Perreault's shutout bid with a late goal, but the Jr. Hounds couldn't muster up any more offence.

Next action for the Jr. Hounds will be Sunday night when the Rayside Balfour Sabrecats make their last regular season visit to Memorial Gardens this season.
