For Brad Jacobs to win the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier, it’s going to take a pair of Sunday wins.

The good news is, despite a Northern Ontario loss on Saturday night, the team skipped by Jacobs still has a chance to get into the Brier final in Brandon, Man.

To get to the final, the Jacobs rink, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden, lead Ryan Harnden, and fifth Lee Toner, will have to beat the tournament wild card entry, Edmonton’s Brendan Bottcher, in a semifinal on Sunday afternoon.

Jacobs moves into the semifinal after a 9-4 loss in eight ends to Alberta’s Kevin Koe in the 1vs2 page playoff on Saturday night.

With the hammer, Koe scored a pair in the opening end before taking a commanding lead with a steal of three in the second end.

After Jacobs got on the board with a single in the third end, Koe increased the lead with a deuce in the fourth end.

Bottcher got to the semifinal thanks to a win 7-2 win over Brad Gushue (Team Canada) in the 3vs4 page playoff earlier in the day on Saturday.

On Saturday, the tournament all-star teams were announced. Jacobs, Fry, and E.J. Harnden were all names to the first team at their respective spots.
