************************* Hounds/ Fronts complete deal involving Fine

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club announced this afternoon that they have completed a deal with the Kingston Frontenacs involving 3rd-year forward Michael Fine.

The deal, which will see Fine move to the Eastern Conference, involves three conditional draft picks returning to the Soo.

Based on meeting specific yearly conditions, the base picks have the ability to be upgraded.

Hounds get:

- Niagara’s 7th Round pick in 2010 (potential to be 2nd round pick in 2010).

- Kingston’s 7th Round pick in 2012 (potential to be 3rd round pick in 2012).

- Kingston’s 15th Round pick in 2013 (potential to be 5th round pick in 2013).

“After reaching this deal earlier today, it is our hope that Mike can take advantage of the opportunity and be successful with Kingston. Although we don’t discuss the conditions placed on upgrading the draft picks specifically, the emphasis is on games played and we feel that should Mike perform at expected levels for Kingston, then the conditions should be met and the picks upgraded thus giving us a fair return in value” started Hounds GM Dave Torrie.

“Based on our decision to send Mike home to await a trade, it certainly made working out a fair deal more complicated but I believe that both teams involved can benefit from this trade. As an organization we would like to thank Michael Fine for his past contributions and wish him well with this new opportunity,” concluded Torrie.

Fine and the Frontenacs make their one and only visit to Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday, November 1.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Essar Centre.
