Hounds swing deal for defenseman

The Soo Greyhounds acquired defenseman Mike Looby from the Brampton Battalion in an Ontario Hockey League trade on Tuesday.

Greyhounds general manager Dave Torrie acquired the 18 year-old defenseman in exchange for a third round pick in the 2005 OHL draft.

In two years with the Battalion, Looby has scored two goals and 19 assists in 104 games with 63 penalty minutes. Looby, who stands at 6 feet and weighs 165 pounds, was a second round pick in the 2001 OHL draft. He has yet to be drafted into the National Hockey League.

Looby, a left hand shot from the point, will get a change of scenery after two years of playing in his hometown city of Brampton.
