Just in case anyone has been keeping track, it was the 228th regular season meeting in OHL history between the Greyhounds and the Sudbury Wolves Wednesday night. And the Soo skated away with a 5-3 win before 2,410 fans at Memorial Gardens. The Soo win improved its all-time OHL home record over Sudbury to 67-41-6. For the record, the two teams have also met 114 times in Sudbury, with the Wolves holding a home edge of 61-43-10. Both the Soo and Sudbury entered the OHL in 1972. The above bit of statistical information comes to SooToday.com from Dave Harrison, who has been doing stats for the Wolves on a volunteer basis for 30 years. To Wednesday's game itself, the Hounds fired only 23 shots at Wolves' goalie Joel Whitmarsh, but two goals in each of the second and third periods was the difference. Sudbury scored in each of the first, second and third periods in totalling 32 shots at Hounds' goalie Adam Munro. Munro has posted a 7-5 record since joining the Hounds in a trade with the Erie Otters. The Hounds as a team are now 12-19-3-1. Forward Scott Dobben, who also came over from Erie, led the Hounds past Sudbury with a pair of goals. Jeff Carter, Matt Herneisen and Sean Stefanski added a goal and an assist apiece for the Soo, which is home to Brampton on Friday and Saginaw on Sunday.
