Hounds blanked by Wolves

The Soo Greyhounds ran out of ammunition at the end of the road and fell victim to the Wolves.

The Wolves used a goal in the first minute and final minute of play to shutout the Greyhounds 2-0 in Ontario Hockey League action on Tuesday night in Sudbury.

The Greyhounds complete the four-game road trip with a 2-2 record after victories in Peterborough and Ottawa and losses in Belleville and Sudbury.

With the loss, the Greyhounds fall to 15-11-1-1 but maintain a hold on top spot in the OHL's West Division although the Hounds have played four more games than second place Plymouth and five more than third place Sarnia.

In fact, the Greyhounds have played two games more than Windsor and between three and seven games more than any other team in the league.

Bobby Chaumont opened the scoring for the Wolves just 16 seconds into the game with a goal which turned out to be the game winner. Sean Langdon added an empty net goal with 28 seconds remaining in the third period.

The Greyhounds fired 35 shots on net but were unable to solve the goaltending of the game's first star Patrick Ehelechner.

Kevin Druce also had a solid game for the Greyhounds stopping 29 of the 30 shots he faced in being selected as the game's third star.

The Hounds played the game without overage forward Colt King who is serving a suspension after being assessed a gross misconduct following his game winning goal in Ottawa on Sunday afternoon.

King picked up the puck following the goal and put it in his mouth in a gesture towards Ottawa 67's defenseman Pierre Mitsou.

The Greyhounds return home to the friendly confines of Memorial Gardens for a two-game homestand on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the Brampton Battalion and Sunday against the Toronto St. Michael's Majors at 2 p.m.
