High school volleyball city champs crowned

Korah and Superior Heights are set to represent Sault Ste. Marie next week in NOSSA action locally

The city girls high school volleyball champions were crowned on Thursday at White Pines.

In senior action, Korah beat Superior Heights in three sets – 25-16, 25-20, 25-22.

Both schools will represent Sault Ste. Marie at the AA Northern Ontario Secondary School Association (NOSSA) AA tournament, scheduled for next Thursday which will be hosted by Korah.

The junior final saw Superior Heights beat Korah in three sets – 22-25, 25-13, 15-12.

Both schools are set to play in the junior AA NOSSA tournament, which coincides with the senior event at Korah next week.

Other local schools are also slated to play in various NOSSA tournaments next week as well.

St. Mary’s will travel to Sudbury next Friday for the AAA NOSSA tournament while the White Pines senior team and Notre Dame juniors will travel to Sudbury for the NOSSA A event, beginning next Friday.

The Notre Dame senior team will play in the NOSSA B event, hosted by Manitoulin Secondary School and also set for next Friday.
