The high school hockey season wrapped up pre-Christmas action on Wednesday night with a triple-header at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The high school hockey season wrapped up pre-Christmas action on Wednesday night with a triple-header at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Action opened on Wednesday with Superior Heights beating Korah 4-1 thanks to a goal and two assists from Simon Mangone. Colton Manchulenko added a pair of goals for Superior Heights, who scored three times in the third period to break a 1-1 tie. Kevin Thomas had the other goal for Superior Heights while Brendon Devoe had the lone goal for Korah.

The middle game saw St. Mary’s skate away with a 4-2 win over Central Algoma Secondary School. James Foster scored a pair of goals and set up another for St. Mary’s in the win while Cody Deshene and Thomas Pratt also scored. A.J. Daniel and Brysin Shaw scored for CASS while Dakota Raven set up both goals.

The final game of the night saw St. Basil blank White Pines 11-0. Jonathan Colombi scored three times and set up another goal for the Saints in the win. Josh Fisher also scored three times. Alex Guido chipped in with two goals and an assist. Andrew Paluzzi scored twice and Connor Antonello added a single goal in the win. David Toppan (three assists), Patrick LePore (three assists), Darryl Ward (two assists), Josh Dose (two assists) and Tyler Mousseau (two points) also had multi-point nights for St. Basil.

On Tuesday afternoon, St. Mary’s skated to a 5-2 win over St. Basil. Liam Rising scored a pair of goals and set up two others in the win. Deshene scored three times in the win. Foster and Cody Poirier had two assists each for St. Mary’s. Guido and Dan Biocchi scored for St. Basil.

The final week of action before Christmas opened on Monday with a pair of games.

St. Basil opened the week with a 6-0 win over St. Mary’s. Michael Chilelli got the shutout while Fisher had three goals and an assist. Paluzzi also scored twice in the win. Colombi had a goal and two assists for the Saints.

Monday’s other game saw CASS beat Superior Heights 6-0. Shaw and Bryce Campbell had two goals and an assist each in the win. Connor McDougall added a goal and an assist in the win. Raven and Hunter Pelletier chipped in with two assists each.

Standings heading into the Christmas break are:

  1. St. Basil: 8-4-0 - 16 points
  2. St. Mary’s : 8-3-0 - 16 points
  3. Korah 6-3-0 - 12 points
  4. CASS: 4-3-1 - 9 points
  5. Superior Heights: 3-7-1 - 7 points
  6. White Pines: 0-8-0 - 0 points
