The high school hockey season is approaching the Christmas break and had five games on the schedule this week. The week opened as Korah skated to a 6-2 win over St. Basil.

The high school hockey season is approaching the Christmas break and had five games on the schedule this week.

The week opened as Korah skated to a 6-2 win over St. Basil. Jay Johnson had two goals and an assist in the win while Erik Simon and Aaron Savage had a goal and two assists for the Colts. Brendon Devoe added a goal and an assist in the win. Justin Pelley also scored. Josh Fisher and Andrew Paluzzi scored for St. Basil in the loss.

Wednesday saw three games on the schedule.

In the opener, Superior Heights skated to a 4-2 win over White Pines. Colton Manchulenko scored a pair of goals while Ethan McGillivray and Drew Reinholtz also scored for Superior Heights in the win. Nick Duplessis had a goal and an assist for White Pines. Jordan Hannifan had the other goal for the Wolverines in the loss.

Game two saw St. Basil beat CASS 6-2. Jonathan Colombi set up three goals in the win for St. Basil. Josh Fisher, Sam Aceti and Tyler Mousseau had a goal and an assist each for the Saints while Connor Antonello and Jesse Tatasciore also scored. A.J. Daniel and Brysin Shaw scored for CASS.

Wednesday’s final game saw St. Mary’s beat Korah 6-4. Tanner Lesage had a goal and three assists for St. Mary’s while Liam Rising had a goal and two assists. James Foster scored a pair of goals for St. Mary’s in the win. Cody Poirier and Jake Wright also scored.

Wrapping up the week on Thursday night, St. Mary’s needed a shootout to beat Superior Heights 4-3. A depleted Knights lineup needed a goal from Cody Deschene with one second remaining in regulation time to get to the shootout where Poirier had the winner. Poirier had a goal and an assist in regulation time while Rising and Lesage also scored. Quinn Barban had a goal and two assists for Superior Heights while Manchulenko, Brett Smith and Simon Mangone also scored.

Dec. 17

  • McMeeken: St. Mary’s vs. St. Basil (3:30 p.m.)
  • Rhodes 1: Superior Heights vs. CASS (3:30 p.m.)

Dec. 19

  • Rhodes 1: Superior Heights vs. Korah (3:30 p.m.)
  • Rhodes 2: CASS vs. St. Mary’s (6:30 p.m.)
  • Rhodes 2: White Pines vs. St. Basil (8:00 p.m.)

Dec. 20

  • Essar: St. Mary’s vs. St. Basil (1:30)
