The Soo Greyhounds will have to wait one more day to play on home ice.

High winds on Friday forced the closure of the Mackinac Bridge and made travel conditions dicey for the Sarnia Sting, who were scheduled to be the Greyhounds opponent on Friday at the GFL Memorial Gardens.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., the Ontario Hockey League announced the game would be postponed.

The bridge was open to passenger vehicles shortly after 4 p.m. but remained closed to all other vehicles.

A new date for the game had not been announced but the Greyhounds said that tickets purchased for Friday’s game would be redeemable for the game when it’s rescheduled.

In the event that fans are unable to attend the game on its new date will be able to get a refund for their ticket at the GFL Memorial Gardens box office.
