OTTAWA, ONT. – The Soo Greyhounds opened up a three-game road trip in the nation’s capital on Thursday night.
The Greyhounds picked up a 4-1 win over the Ottawa 67’s on Thursday night at Scotiabank Place in Ontario Hockey League action.
Leading 1-0, the Greyhounds scored three times in the final 20 minutes in the win. Ryan Sproul, David Broll and Dylan Staples scored over a five-minute span in the third period to help the Greyhounds to victory. Staples and Broll had a goal and an assist each.
Mark Petaccio had the other goal for the Greyhounds in the win. Nick Cousins chipped in with two assists. Matt Murray stopped 21 shots.
Tyler Graovac had the lone goal for Ottawa. Goaltender Clint Windsor stopped 47 shots.
With the win, the Greyhounds record improves to 20-17-2-0 and pulls the Greyhounds into a tie with the Plymouth Whalers for sixth in the OHL’s Western Conference at 42 points.
Ottawa’s record drops to 11-26-0-3 with the loss.
The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday night as they make their lone appearance at the Yardmen Arena in Belleville to face the Bulls.
In Brampton, Cole Cassels and Scott Laughton had a goal and an assist each as the Oshawa Generals beat the Brampton Battalion 4-1. Trevor Morbeck assisted on two goals. Daniel Altshuller stopped 16 shots for the Generals. Blake Clarke had the lone goal for Brampton.
In St. Catharines, Josh MacDonald scored a pair of goals to lead the Barrie Colts to a 4-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Andreas Athanasiou had a goal and two assists for Barrie. Steven Shipley had the lone goal for Niagara.
In Peterborough, Andrew D’Agostini stopped 42 shots as the Peterborough Petes blanked the Belleville Bulls 3-0. Alan Quine had a goal and an assist for the Petes. Bulls goaltender Charlie Graham stopped 30 shots.
