As exhibition action approaches, the Ontario Hockey League’s Soo Greyhounds made five signings official on Wednesday.

The team has inked forwards Dominic Mufarreh, Alex Johnson, Cullen McLean and Tye Kartye and goaltender Ethan Taylor.

Mufarreh spent last season with the Detroit Compuware U16 program and was selected in the seventh round of the OHL Priority Selection in the spring.

In a prepared statement, Mufarreh expressed excitement in signing with the organization.

“So many great players have come through this organization,” Mufarreh said. “They have a strong history of moving guys on to the next level.”

Kartye, who was selected by the Greyhounds in the eighth round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, had a solid camp after posting 28 goals in 36 games last season with the Greater Kingston Jr. Frontenacs midget team and called the opportunity to play in the OHL “a dream come true.”

“It’s an amazing feeling to get the opportunity to play with some of the great players in this league,” Kartye said.

A ninth round pick of the Greyhounds in 2017, Taylor spent last season with the Quinte Red Devils midget team.

McLean was a 15th round pick of the Greyhounds in 2017 and posted 35 goals and 45 assists in 60 games with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders midget team in 2017-18.

Johnston spent the 2017-18 season with the Central Canada Hockey League’s Kanata Lasers after being selected by the Greyhounds in the sixth round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.
