It’s no secret that Soo Greyhounds forward Zach Senyshyn has made time away from the rink for good causes.

The high-scoring veteran has always been available for any sort of public appearance be it charity or otherwise in his two years in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Ottawa, ON native will be back at it this summer as he operates a softball tournament in support of Algoma Residential Community Hospice.

“ARCH Hospice is such an important part of our community,” Senyshyn said in a release. “This is a great opportunity for us to come together and support such an amazing cause.”

“It’s been such an amazing experience being part of the Sault Ste. Marie community and I’m excited to be able to give back and provide this beneficial event for ARCH,” Senyshyn added.

Set for the weekend of June 10-12, 2016, the inaugural Zach Senyshyn Hitting for Hospice softball tournament will feature a men’s division and a co-ed division.

The double-elimination tournament will see all games played on the fields of Strathclair Park.

“When we got wind that Zach wanted to organize a softball tournament for ARCH, we were more than excited. What Zach is doing for our community is wonderful. Not only is he a talented hockey player, but he’s got such a genuine passion for helping others,” said Alex Manta, marketing and events associate with ARCH.

“For many hockey players, the summer months afford them the opportunity to step away from the spotlight but Zach continues to show just how important supporting our community is by helping to raise much needed funds that allow ARCH to provide quality compassionate care through end-of-life,” Manta added.
