The Soo Greyhounds blueline got a little younger today as the team dealt veteran defenceman Anthony DeMeo to the Sudbury Wolves ahead of this week’s Ontario Hockey League trade deadline.

The 19-year-old, who had seen limited action this year with the Greyhounds, was traded to the Sudbury Wolves on Monday in exchange for 17-year-old defenceman Drew Wawrow and a pair of draft picks.

A native of Port Washington, NY, DeMeo had three assists in 24 games with the Greyhounds this season, his fourth with the team.

He set career highs last season with one goal and 18 points in 67 games. In 191 career games with the Greyhounds, DeMeo had one goal and 30 points.

In his first OHL season, Wawrow had one assist in 10 games with the Wolves.

Wawrow was a seventh round pick of the Wolves in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.

Also as part of the deal, the Greyhounds receive a fifth round pick in the 2020 draft and a third round pick in the 2021 draft.
