GOOD WEEKEND FOR NORTH STARS

SUDBURY -- It was a three-point weekend here for the Soo North Stars, who picked up a win and a tie over the Sudbury Valley East Cobras in Great North Midget Hockey League action.

SUDBURY -- It was a three-point weekend here for the Soo North Stars, who picked up a win and a tie over the Sudbury Valley East Cobras in Great North Midget Hockey League action. In Friday night's game, goalie Michael Maulucci posted his third straight shutout and David Turco scored two goals in a 4-0 blanking of Valley East. Chris Towell and Cory Sewell also scored for the Soo and Kyle Rodgers added a pair of assists. Saturday night, Sewell had a pair of goals, Turco and Nick Tombari had one apiece, and Michael Sharp had two assists as the North Stars improved their record to 5-2-1 by battling Valley East to a 4-4 tie. The North Stars are in Timmins on Thanksgiving weekend and don't play at home until Oct. 19-20 when they host the Sudbury Lockerby Nickel Capitals at John Rhodes Arena.
