Gameday Preview: Greyhounds host nationally-ranked Attack

The Soo Greyhounds take on the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night at the Essar Centre. The Attack enter the game ranked sixth in the country and sporting a record of 19-5-1-2 after a 6-4 win in Sudbury on Friday night.

The Attack have won five of their last six games and went 9-2-1 in November, which included a 7-5 win over the Greyhounds on Nov. 10.  Former Greyhound Daniel Catenacci had a goal and four assists in the win for Owen Sound while Cameron Brace added a goal and two assists.

David Broll and Sergey Tolchinsky had a pair of goals each in the previous meeting between the two clubs.

Offensively for the Attack, Catenacci leads the way with 16 goals and 40 points while Cameron Brace has 20 goals in 27 games this season, including six game-winning goals. Brace has 35 points and sits second in team scoring. Gemel Smith is third with 30 points in 27 games as well for the Attack.

Attack goaltender Jordan Binnington has been among the league’s best all season, currently sitting third in goals against average (2.20), second in wins (15) and first in save percentage (0.934) and shutouts (3).

The Greyhounds enter action on Saturday night with four wins in their last six outings and have scored 31 goals over that span.

Both teams enter Saturday coming off wins on Friday night.

The Greyhounds beat Erie 6-4 on Friday thanks to a goal and an assist each from Colin Miller, Brandon Alderson, Darnell Nurse and Nick Cousins.

The Attack beat Sudbury in the Nickel City on Friday night, also by a 6-4 score. Brace had two goals and an assist in the win while Catenacci and Joseph Blandisi added two assists each.
